Beginning on Monday, May 8th was the start of the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo or better known as E3. It's where all the major videogame companies flex their muscles and show off what products they have coming out that will continue to keep me on the couch. It all started on Monday with Sony's press conference to the media and the highlight was the announcement of the release date and price of the Playstation 3 (PS3). The date is November 17th and the whopping price of $500 (w/ 20 gb hd) and a $600 (w/ 60 gb hd). Alittle much don't you think? Good job Sony on pricing out ALOT of customers.
Nintendo's press conference was on Tueday am and their biggest announcement was basically the Wii (formerly known as the Revolution) will focus on making non-gamers into gamers. And that the system isn't focusing on graphics etc. Good move Nintendo! It's nice to see one of these next-gen consoles buck the trend and take a step in another direction. I think Nintendo is going to make some noise once this system is relased. But the suits at Nintendo didn't offer a price or release date...so stay tuned.
And last but not least Microsoft shows off their Xbox live #'s and the successful launch of the 360 (I beg to differ). But enough numbers aside the BIGGEST announcement has got to be the worst kept secret ever; the announcement of Halo 3. For months and months Bungie has denied developing a third Halo title. Even Bill Gates was quoted saying 'Halo 3 will be released the same day as the PS3.' But Bungie stuck to their guns and denied Halo 3 even existed. All those rumors we're squashed with Microsoft playing this quick teaser trailer at the end of their press conference.
Halo 3 Teaser
The last Halo title made most of my buddies run out to buy an xbox and sign up for Xbox live just to play this game. Let's see if this new one will do the same.
Game on.
