Round Hole, Square Peg

This past weekend me, wifey, my sister and her kids went to the local carnival. The weather was nice and it was a perfect day to be outside. The carnival was tiny but had enough rides and games that allowed the kids to run wild. So as my nephew and niece went around in circles on the rides I was staring at one of the carnival games near by. It was a shoot a free throw length shot, win a prize and all for a $1. The game looked simple enough.

I stood there a good 20 minutes watching person after person attempt to hit what appears to be a simple free throw but the game yielded no winners. So I took a stroll over and looked up at the rim and found out what was causing the missed shots. The rim was shaped like an OVAL. Unless the person actually hits the shot perfectly; the hoop was not going to let anything in. I don't feel bad for the people giving away their money. Since it's THEIR money.
